Masterclass
with jesus in the school of prayer

February 11 - March 24, 2024

Have you ever thought about going back to school? Here’s your chance to give it a try as we join Jesus in the school of prayer. The Lord’s Prayer is more than a short prayer to be memorized and occasionally recited, it’s your secret weapon. It contains radical, subversive values, and as we integrate them into our prayer lives, it reorients us to live in God’s world, God’s way. Whether you are brand new to prayer or just ready to level up your prayer life, join us for this inspiring series as we enroll with Jesus in His school of prayer.

SET FREE BY GRACE

January 21 - February 4, 2024

We hear the word “grace” all the time . . . musicians play grace notes in their music, we aim to be in someone’s good graces, some “say grace” before a meal, or we look for a grace period if something is late.  As the song suggests, grace truly is amazing, but what if in the midst of all these cliches, we’re missing the true power that God’s grace provides? The grace that we receive from Jesus has the power to do the impossible in our lives: To bring eternal life in Heaven and freedom today from addictions, bitterness, depression, anxiety, despair, and anything else this life might try and throw at us.  Come and see a new depth to the grace Jesus gives, and how we can live in freedom like never before.

 Above, Within, Beyond

December 31, 2023 - January 14, 2024

Have you ever felt a desire to grow in prayer, but felt stuck figuring out how to get started? In this series, we will explore a prayer that is two thousand years old, yet just as relevant as the day it was first written. It's a cry to God that outlines three simple movements in the kind of prayers that make a difference -- above, within, and beyond. First, we humble ourselves before God, worship Him, and recognize that He is ABOVE all of our anxiety, fear, sin, hopes, and dreams. Then, we recognize that everything God wants to do through us starts WITHIN us. Finally, we take the limits off and look BEYOND ourselves in prayer, imagining how God might receive greater glory through our faith. During a time when so many people are trying to improve their lives, what if we focused on God and let Him grow our prayers?

YES, GOD

January 8 - 22, 2023

We believe 2023 is going to be a year to remember for City Life, a year marked by uncommon surrender to God and a greater impact in our city. There’s one short, simple word God has given us to anchor our faith this year. It’s also a word we believe can be given back to Him as an act of worship: “Yes!”

To say “Yes” to God is to choose God: not just what you hope to get from Him, but only God Himself. When we have an open, surrendered heart, we are free to let God choose and direct His will, confident that if we had His knowledge and perspective, His decision would also be our desire. It all starts with one prayer, “Yes, God!”

SKEPTICS WELCOME

October 9 - 30, 2022

A lot of people are skeptical of Christianity today. They may like Jesus but have a lot of questions about the harm done by the Church in the name of religion. Some of this criticism is warranted. History is pockmarked by people who have claimed to have authentic faith-- but in reality, have abused their power to oppress others. But that is only a slice of the story. When we dig into global history, we see a richer theme of ordinary people uncovering needs and-- transformed by faith in Jesus-- becoming messengers of hope and healing. When we dig even deeper, we see that Christians are often the ones leading the way. Historically, Christ Followers have been at the vanguard of establishing hospitals, ending slavery, championing human rights, pioneering medicine, advancing science, and elevating education for all! For a generation that wants to make the world a better place, what does this say about who Jesus really is? Discover the catalytic force that launched the greatest social movement in history: authentic faith in Christ!
